Power2X implements a green project in Estonia
Power2X has announced an investment in Estonia to develop sustainable technologies. The Netherlands-based company will invest €1 billion to produce green methanol in the country.
The company is active in the field of green energy. Power2X develops and implements projects using sustainable technologies. It plans to build a methanol plant in Estonia. According to the project, the company will produce about 500,000 tonnes of green fuel annually once operational. The primary feedstock for the plant will be forestry waste and hydrogen, and the power source will be wind farms on the Estonian coast. Construction of the plant will start in Pärnu. The project has undergone the necessary feasibility studies and received several permits. The plant will be operational by 2028.
The production of environmentally friendly methanol will reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Methanol can serve as:
– a raw material for the production of chemicals
– aviation fuel;
– fuel for ships.
In addition, methanol can become an alternative resource for other industries that produce large amounts of CO2. The output from the new plant should reduce emissions by 1 million tonnes per year.
Other Power2X projects
The Netherlands-based company is active in the decarbonisation and green technology sector. It has extensive experience in green ammonia, hydrogen and methanol projects. Power2X also implements solar power generation capacity.
One of its largest projects is the MadoquaPower2X joint venture. Its founders are Madoqua Renewables, Power2X and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The company plans to produce green ammonia in Portugal. The company has selected KBR technology. K-GreeN’s carbon-free approach will likely produce 1,200 tonnes of ammonia per day in the first phase. In the second phase of the plant’s development, production will increase to 1,500 tonnes per day.
MadoquaPower2X will be part of KBR’s digital control solution. It will optimise processes and improve the plant’s energy efficiency.
Power2X also manages plants in Spain and other European countries and consults on several projects in Africa and the Middle East.
With the European Union actively reducing harmful emissions, Power2X’s services are becoming increasingly important. The company’s portfolio includes a variety of options for transitioning to sustainable technologies. During the project development process, Power2X takes into account the potential of the country and each region. Based on this, the optimal solution is selected. In most cases, these are green fuel plants.
