Mariya Dangote is the daughter of the famous Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote. He heads the country’s largest industrial company, the Dangote Group. She is also actively involved in the family’s business activities. At the same time, she manages to be active in charity work.
Mariya was born in the 1990s into Nigeria’s most famous business dynasty. The family has three other children. Her father, Aliko, is the wealthiest man in Africa. He made his fortune in the industrial sector and has an estimated USD 13.5 billion in assets.
Since childhood, Mariya has had almost unlimited opportunities. She graduated from Coventry University in 2015 and decided to join the family business. Her career did not progress quickly, but she was able to demonstrate her skills. After years of work, Mariya has become a top manager.
Dangote family is involved in philanthropic activities. They fund social projects aimed at improving the lives of people in Nigeria. Mariya also participates in such events. At the same time, describing her as a public figure is difficult. We know very little about her personal life and financial situation. In general, the Dangote dynasty leads a somewhat secretive life. Mariya does not attract the attention of journalists, which allows a woman to separate public activities from personal relationships.Mariya Dangote and family

Family business overview

The Dangote Group is the largest industrial conglomerate in Nigeria and West Africa. It was initially founded in 1981 as a trading company. Aliko Dangote was involved in the importation of food into Nigeria. The business grew aggressively, and in the 1990s, the company set up its manufacturing facility. Its facilities carried out:
– pasta and flour production;
– salt processing;
– refined sugar production.
Gradually, the spheres of activity expanded, and the business acquired new directions. At that time, the most promising industry was cement.
The Dangote Group’s strategy is quite aggressive, but it has allowed the company to become one of the leaders in cement production. In addition to the areas outlined above, the business includes:
– spice and beverage manufacturing;
– investment activities;
– the implementation of gas and oil projects;
– fertiliser production;
– steel smelting;
– telecommunications activities.
The conglomerate operates in several countries, including outside Africa. The various divisions operate through subsidiary companies. Dangote also implements projects in partnership with the government. For example, it plans to build a cement plant in Zambia with the support of the authorities.
The Dangote Group has a vertical management system with thoughtful diversification. It allows the business to scale quickly.
