Billionaire Joe Lewis is a private person. He prefers life on his yacht in the Bahamas to socializing in high society. Joe Lewis was born in 1937 into a Jewish family in London. His father was engaged in the organization of various traveling events, and to help his parent, Joe had to quit school at the age of 15. The guy started out as a waiter, where he had to be on his feet for 14 hours, but gradually his father made him a partner in the business.
Lewis was doing well, thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit, the small family business grew to the level of a restaurant franchise. After a while, the young man acquired a nightclub, which enjoyed great popularity due to properly organized activities and clear adherence to the themes of the institution.
In 1979, Lewis sold the family business for 30 million pounds and decided to try his hand at investing. It was a great decision, which quickly began to bring income. The real success for Joe came during the currency crisis in 1992. Then the businessman joined forces with investor George Soros, and together they were able to make huge profits. A little earlier, Lewis changed his place of residence, as he had problems with taxes in the UK, and the businessman moved to the Bahamas.Joe’s main brainchild is the Tavistock Group investment company, which he founded in 1975. Now it consists of about 200 firms located in 12 countries. Among them are restaurant chains, oil and gas companies, sports teams, resorts and medical centers, commercial and residential real estate. In addition, Lewis has a stake in the investment company ENIC International, which he created in partnership with Daniel Levy, as well as a brokerage firm, a pub chain and a golf club.
In 2001, the billionaire purchased Tottenham Hotspur soccer club, a highly successful investment. In just one season the team brought in revenues of 100 million pounds.
In 2017 Lewis bought a unique yacht 98 meters long, which even has a tennis court. Since then the billionaire will bring his business from the deck of his ship. And despite his solid age, the businessman is not going to finish his professional activities. Most of Joe’s interaction with investors goes through his partner Daniel Levy.
