Lancôme: overview of the brand with the rose logo
Lancôme is one of the most popular and well-known premium cosmetics brands. Its distinctive rose logo is one of its most recognizable features. The logo has become a symbol of elegance and sophistication, setting the brand apart from its competitors.
Guillaume d’Ornano and Armand Petitjean founded the brand in 1935. Armand had experience in the perfume industry, having worked with François Coty. Consequently, the company initially focused on producing fragrances.
The name Lancôme comes from the Lancosme Forest in central France. The region is also famous for its rose fields, which inspired the company’s founders.
Lancôme’s first products were five fragrances. In 1936, the company released Nutrix cream. The business developed rapidly, actively expanding its product line. First came skin care products, followed by decorative cosmetics. The brand’s rose-scented lipstick caused a sensation in the marketplace. It remained the sales leader for over 30 years.
Legendary products
A turning point in Lancôme’s history occurred in 1964 when it became part of the L’Oréal Group. The company had already gained worldwide recognition by that point, but the merger provided new impetus for growth. Lancôme focused its efforts on expanding its line of decorative cosmetics:
1. In 1990, Lancôme launched the L’Absolu Rouge lipstick series, which instantly became a market favorite. Distinguished by its durability and rich color, it immediately became popular with women around the world.
2. In 1997, Lancôme introduced the Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation. It became one of the company’s signature products. In 2017, experts updated the formula to improve its texture and durability.
3. In 2004, Lancôme launched its legendary Hypnôse mascara, which remains the company’s flagship product in the eye makeup category to this day.
However, the company did not limit itself to decorative cosmetics alone. In 2009, Lancôme introduced the Advanced Genifique serum. This product has received numerous awards in the field of cosmetology. In 2021, the formula of the serum was updated to enhance its effectiveness.
Meanwhile, Lancôme continued to develop its perfume line. In 2014, the iconic fragrance La Vie Est Belle was launched. Interest in it grew significantly thanks to a well-thought-out marketing campaign. Actress Julia Roberts starred in the perfume’s advertising campaign.
Another popular perfume in recent years is Idole. It was developed in collaboration with actress and singer Zendaya. The fragrance organically complements the brand’s image of strong, free, and inspiring women.
Social activities
Lancôme positions itself not only as a cosmetics brand but also as a socially responsible one. The company strives to positively influence its consumers’ lives by addressing important social issues.
One significant step was the launch of the Write Her Future charity initiative in 2017. The initiative aims to expand women’s access to education and support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Additionally, Lancôme is developing environmental projects. The company is implementing sustainable solutions to reduce its environmental impact. Its immediate priorities include increasing the use of recycled materials and reusable packaging.
